I cant count how many time I've had this conversation with my dad. I used to think that my unorganized mess was somewhat organized. But as i got older and took on more in life I really needed to get organized, really organized. I searched the web and asked around and found a lot of tips and tricks to get organized and stay organized. I found couple that worked amazing for me and decided to share them with you guys. Hope you find them useful.
Tip #1
Find a place for everything.
Find a place for everything and i mean everything. Find a place for your keys, your pens, your magazines etc. Finding a place for everything helps you not to lose or misplace anything. Never label anything as 'miscellaneous' as you'll just end up dumping everything in your miscellaneous pile.
Tip#2
Just Do it
Don't ever put things off. Just do it. Whether its the little things like getting your laundry done now or waiting for tomorrow then tomorrow turns into the weekend then the laundry is overflowing and you have no clean undies. Force yourself to get things done right away. If it can be done in two minutes or less, always do it right away.
Tip#3
Get a good day planner.
Get a day planner something that's current, not too complicated, something colorful and fun. This is one of the tips that i got from a really organized friend. She writes EVERYTHING down and takes her planner with her everywhere. It might seem hard at first to write everything you do down but as long you consistently write them down it will become second nature.
Tip#4
Don't become a Hoarder.
Separate your emotions from your possession. Don't get attached to your things. Yeah you know that work out machine you bought last year that's sitting in back of your closet and you keep saying you're going to use it, , yeah that's clutter get rid of it. A good rule of thumb is that if you haven't used an object in over a year you really don't need it.
Tip#5
Donate
Charity is good for the soul. Go through your wardrobe look at pieces that you never wear, pieces you don't like, really access your wardrobe. Apply the same rule of thumb that i mentioned in rule #4 if you haven't worn it in over a year get rid of it. You can donate it to Goodwill, the Big Brother and Big Sister programs and local charity organizations. You'll get some clutter out of your life and do something good.
Tip#6
Create a Organizing/Cleaning playlist
Music is a great way to make something 'boring' fun. Make a playlist with your favorite music and whenever you have to clean or organize something you put that playlist on and i guarantee you'll get something done!
My cleaning playlist includes some awesome tunes like Partition by Beyonce , Juicy - Notorious B I G , It Ends Tonight- All American Rejects, Hear me - Imagine Dragons just to name a few. This tip really helped.
I hope you guys find these tips helpful.
